Weaknesses: Due to being a workaholic, he has the tendency to spend too much time on his work. Also, he would let stuff such as his awards and praises get in over his head. That can bring negative attention to people around him. Also, deep inside he feels like he has let his son down when it comes to Robert (his grandson). But he wishes that Robert would show at least some care to him.

Backstory
<sub>Dr. Thomas Light is the head scientist of New Light Labs located in the city of New Light. During his college years, he became friends with a fellow scientist named Dr. Albert Wily. The two took part in various projects and were recognized for their accomplishments. After getting their Ph.D in physics, robotics and engineering, they founded New Light Labs. Overtime, his continued contributions would begin gathering negative attention sparking controversy. When Dr. Light received the Nobel Peace Prize in robotics, his former friend couldn't stand his partner's continued success and plotted against him.

Dr. Light and Dr. Wily began work on the first humanoid robot which was codenamed Project Blues. They succeed but discovered a problem. Accusations flew about regarding its guidance system caused the two to split. Eventually, Dr. Wily was banished due to his unethical practices and would go on to be the mad scientist he is today. Wily eventually got his vengeance by stealing Dr. Light's prized DRN Robot Master series. His grandson tried to stop him but it would end up costing him his life.

After his grandson's death, Light entered into a bitter depression. Realizing that he has lost another member of his family, he would spend days making plans for something. After several attempts, he succeeded in designing blueprints for a new robot; one that would surpass the DRN series in every way. With the help of several scientists (including a battlechip geek), he would initiate Project Reawakened; the next generation in robotics.

The project regarding taking information regarding Robert Light's memories and personality incorporating them into the robot. Though it was a success, the robot would act differently than it should. The project has one additional feature; the ability to become Earth's only hope against the mad Dr. Wily... by transforming into the blue bomber, Mega Man. He helps his grandson in any way possible against the likes of Dr. Wily. Hopefully, it's to make up for the fact that he was unable to save him months ago. But deep inside Robert, he cares for his grandpa because he's the only person left in his family.</sub>
