This is only one half of my double whammy review. I saw the episode today and let me tell you, this is where things start to get serious.

One plot involves the snotty soon to be King of the Earth Kingdom named Wu as he gets ready to be crowned, only for everything to fall down on him hard. At the same time, Korra spends a bit of time with Toph hoping that she can regain her Avatar state. Unfortunately, she's having problems not to mention remembering what happened at the end of Book 3 gives her a massive reminder of the danger. It gets Toph upset and this puts Korra in a serious bind.

We're now at the point where the season takes a turn for the serious. For starters both plots are done really well and it helps set the tension. On one side, you have that snotty brat Wu who claims to hopefully be the king. The guy was a jerk the first time I saw him and it made me say that he's a character I dislike. But upon seeing everything fall apart and him going absolutely nuts, you feel that this guy got what's coming to him. Throughout the whole episode you see it happen as Kuvira makes the announcement that its becoming the Earth Empire. You can see the look in the prince's face as everything's taken away from him in an instant. However with the rising Earth Empire, you know he's screwed. Although you guys know that Kuvira is probably going to be the villain, she actually felt threatening and follows the philosophy of "one doing whatever necessary to get what they want". You know for sure they follow it if they're a villain. It makes me wonder how she'll do things in the later episodes.

As for the second plot, Toph is still the hardass that we come to know except I feel she's upgraded to master level hardass. I feel she's like Yoda and like said character, she's not afraid to put up her dukes. We see that happen during a sparring match with Korra and man she packs a punch. As for Korra, I worry for her. Because of what happened last season, she's fractured. She's lost her way and her situation is a lot worse than before. You don't have to remind me but you guys can get it. I only hope that she does find a way to be rid of this trauma because with the threat of the emerging Earth Empire, the world's going to be yet again in dire turmoil.

Final score for Coronation is a 9 out of 10. A very good episode, albeit serious. Sure there were some funny moments but the main focus is that trouble is emerging, Korra is needed but she has problems of her own that she must solve.

Will she solve them? Who knows but next week's episode will be an interesting one.

I do feel bad for Wu, maybe this will be a learning experience for him
