2017 isn't going to be a good year for people owning an Xbox One. It's been confirmed that Scalebound, an Xbox One and Windows 10 exclusive title has been canceled.

What upsets me is that Microsoft is really in trouble when it comes to exclusive titles. Last year, they canceled Fable Legends AND shut down Lionhead Studios, the company that has been behind the Fable series. To be fair, the game was in development for quite a while. I did read up on TvTropes and found out that Fable Legends was going to be part of the Games for Windows platform and after the reception it received, Microsoft was worried that they were putting money on something that people wouldn't play, let alone like. So they canceled Fable Legends and shuttered Lionhead and several other studios to put more focus on games that they feel would be profitable to the company.

And yet Sony is doing so much better and by looking at their lineup, they're going to dominate yet again. I feel bad for all who were looking forward to this and I feel bad for PlatinumGames because 2016 was a rough year for them. Many of the games they developed didn't do so well whether it be in reviews or in sales.

TMNT Mutants in Manhattan was a disappointment and it was all done to serve as a tie-in to the TMNT film Out of the Shadows. That film underperformed... and how ironic.
Star Fox Zero... got a very mixed reaction. Some people liked it but many others hated due to the forcing of motion controls and that it's another retelling of Star Fox 64. The worst part about all this? The game sold EVEN LESS than Star Fox Command. So the future of the Star Fox series is very bleak.

I could go on and on but I'll let you guys read the article for yourselves. Still, this is very bad for all involved. I hope PlatinumGames can recover from this. I really am excited for NieR Automata. I played the demo and I loved it but I worry that if that game doesn't do well, they can be in major trouble. Be strong PlatinumGames.

Well, what you said there of Starfox Zero, you may want to see this krystalarchive.com/2016/12/miy… . Yes, it was unfortunate to what happened to Zero and Miyamoto is aware of the mixed reception that it got. I don't seriously think that Zero is going to be the "be all, end all" for the series.

Even from that link, Miyamoto said that he will put more effort into the series and you know what? That is good that he is not giving up on the Starfox series. Do I believe we'll get a new game on the Switch for the series? Yeah, I don't see why not. But obviously I don't expect one anytime soon especially since we just got Zero last year. I would probably say 2 or 3 years after the Switch's release, we'll get one in the Switch's lifecycle. Besides, even after Zero's release, those from Platinum Games which even includes Yusuke Hashimoto(director of Zero and Bayonetta 2) and hopefully even Kamiya(stated that he is a SF fan) are still interested in making a sequel to Zero. I think that Platinum Games deserves another chance to make one only this time that they take a bit more control over the game which Miyamoto should be more open on like how Kojima allowed Platinum Games to take control on Metal Gear Rising Revengeance. More importantly, Miyamoto is going to need to embrace online gameplay for the next SF Game and take the series a lot more seriously from that link I placed here in this comment. They do all that and they can get a hit there and most important, give us more than one control option especially traditional controls like the previous games in the series.

Conclusion wise, Nintendo is not going to kill off the series despite what happened to Zero. If they were to kill of the series, then they may as well get rid of Fox from the Smash roster. Same goes for other characters like Samus(Metroid), Olimar(Pikmin) and Captain Falcon(F-Zero). But obviously that is not going to happen. Nintendo has never been known to kill off their established IPs like that regardless.
